Guillaume-Henri Dufour Guillaume-Henri was a Swiss general, bridge engineer and topographer. He served under Napoleon I and led the Swiss forces to victory against the Sonderbund. He presided over the First Geneva Convention which established the International Red Cross. He was the most famous president of the Swiss Federal Office of Topography from 1838 to 1865.

The Dufourspitze (the highest mountain in Switzerland) in the Monte Rosa Massif is named for him.

His descendants are still in Switzerland

(b.15 September 1787, Konstanz - d.14 July 1875, Geneva)

Hilaire Dufour

Hillary2 Dufour was born in Guernsay, February 1, 1841; came to America in April 1854, and to Racine about 1857. His son Peter-Pierre settled in Missouri, then in California.

Jean-Baptiste Dufour

Of Le Havre, France he is the son of Pierre and Étiennette Michel. He married Jeanne Paquet-Bacquet at Notre-Dame of Québec in 1738. The couple had 4 children. Jean-Baptiste is a trader-merchant. Two of his daughters married, one at St-Michel of Bellechasse in 1761, the other at Quebec in 1769.

Then we found nothing else! Therefore presumably the family returned to France after the 1760 conquest . Perharps, his descendants have changed their name. We don't know!

Jean-Baptiste Dufour

known as Montpellier

Originally from Nîmes in Languedoc, diocese of Montpellier (nickname), Antoine-Jean-Baptiste Dufour, son of Antoine and Jeanne Meunier married twice at Lavaltrie: first with Thérèse Laniel in 1760, then with Louise Harnois in 1763. But we found nothing else. Surely his descendants changed their name

Jean Dufour Violles known as Gascogne

Listed in the ''Recueil de la Bourgeoisie Ancienne'', this lineage, has a lot of honorable personalities, of physicians or lawyers, didn't emigrate in America.

We didn't go deeper into our researches..

Pierre Dufour known as Latour

This second Pierre Dufour, came from Arras in Artois, he took the nickname "Latour".

He married Geneviève Guignard said Brillant said Saintour (St-Ours village on the Richelieu valley probably inspired his nickname) in 1722 in Montreal, he then settled at Terrebonne and his descendants proliferated there.

This lineage also seems to have changed their name Dufour, it is difficult to find anyone beyond the end of the 19th century.
