He arrived on the Arkansas River, toward 1750, Jean
Dufour said Brind'Amour married Marie-Philippe Decoux toward 1755. A
son, Charles, was born about 1756 and a daughter, Henriette, April 12,
1757. During the winter 1758, a flooding forced the inhabitants of the
Post Arkansas to move in New Orleans. In February 1759, Jean Dufour said
Braind'Amour was buried in the St-François church St-François de La
Pointe Coupée. Father Irénée, Capucin, noted: "... Sieur Jean Dufour
said Brain D'Amour deceased during November of the last year during a
hunting at the river of the Aus... (Arkansas?) .
Twelve years later, May 11, 1770, a certain Morvant
said Bernard will say that he had killed Brind'Amour ten years before
when he was hunting with him and Baudoins, Goguet, Laurent and seven
other hunters were with them. ... shady story
The descendants of Jean Dufour dit Brindamour are
numerous in the Southern US, especially in Louisiana. Right, Jéraldine
Dufour-Latour, descendant of Jean Dufour dit Brindamour. She did some
research on her ancestor.
